A large and fine example of a Victorian decorative taxidermy diorama. Original hand blown glass dome in excellent condition fitted into original wood base with bun feet. 10 birds are displayed along with native grasses and decorative elements simulating a natural environment.
The paint underneath the base shows it was once painted gold but has since lost its colour over the years.
Birds include a Honey creeper, a Venezuelan Troupial Oriole, a mountain parakeet a Burnished-buff tanager, a Coereba flaveola bird and 2 humming birds

Condition report
Wear consistent with age and use. Glass dome and base are in very fine condition, no chips or cracks. Birds are all intact, decorative elements and fragile grasses seem to be as originally intended without significant losses. The bottom bird has seen better days but the majority of the birds are in amazing condition. But please inspect photos.
